Welcome to the weekly recap for the Jetsetter’s Homestead.  For those of you who stumbled here via my featured stint on BoardingArea this week… welcome!  I’m a management consultant who spends most of my weeks on the road.  On the weekends I split my time between fun side trips and my hometown of Fort Worth, Texas where I can often be found baking and rehabbing my 1924 Craftsman bungalow.

On (most) Sundays, I have a ritual of recapping my week here, both what I’ve posted during the week as well as what might be going on in my life.  Its my way of keeping track of where I am but also a place where I can share the little snippets that might otherwise not merit their own blog post.  Because I blog on BoardingArea’s sister site (Prior2Boarding), our main page moves a little slower and thus I don’t find myself writing quite as often to keep my posts moving to the top.  The last few months my volumes have also been lower as I’ve worked to get my life back in balance after a career shift (closing down my own firm and moving to a larger firm that acquired me/my project work).

I write a LOT about my own travel/life balance and shared some of that with readers this week, like why I often skip the first class lounge and what it’s like to get sick on the road.  I also discussed the lessons we learn from business travel and my five tips for chronic overpackers (like me).  The latter one is my every Sunday struggle – I’m postponing packing right now.

As well, I share my leisure travel fun too, like my stay at the Grand Hyatt Bali that was part of my Indonesian Adventure on Seabourn Odyssey this past winter.  I’ll be starting to write about my upcoming vacation soon – this time, it’s a 12 night Grand Mediterranean cruise on Norwegian Spirit.

I hope I gave everyone a taste of what I write about this week – if you liked what you saw, please follow me here or on social media.

Beyond blogging this week, it’s been the usual crazy busy.

In two weeks time, I will have put in a new HVAC and a new sprinkler system at home.  Both were past their useful life and had been on my “want to replace” list for a while.  Both hit a wall of “how much to repair that?!” where I decided to bite the bullet and write the larger check.

I had a quick two day business trip this past week and also had two days to work from home (with one in the office).  I like home officing again (it’s been years) – I get a lot done although it’s easy to put in a 12-14 hour day if I’m not watching the clock.  And I’m losing pounds by being home and preparing my own food.

I hit the previews for DFW’s Restaurant Week on Friday.  I wasn’t impressed by my first go-round (I’m going to graciously choose not to expose the restaurant here on the off chance that they were having a very bad night) but I’ve got two more weeks to hit other spots.  I spent a good chunk of my weekend working on travel plans for vacation and a solid afternoon wrapping up bookkeeping for my old business.  It’s easy to do lots of computer work with an endless stream of Netflix and Amazon Prime.  (Wet Hot American Summer… yes, I binge watched!)

And now it’s Sunday night.  I made my easy baked sriracha honey wings for dinner so that I’d have one less Sunday Scary worry before I start getting organized for another busy week.

I am glad to have shared part of this past week with you and hope we’ll get some time together in the future!

xoxo
