Introducing Master Pages
I don’t know about you, but I hate having to dig for things on the internet. While the Googley people love nothing more than to dig for treasure, I prefer to spend my screen time reading.
I have a large trip coming up and want to be able to write about it without having to do the “Part 37” kind of title labeling with indexes to take you through all my posts leading up to my photo of a toilet and a three part review of it. (Which would never happen here – unless it was a Toto special in which case it *might* warrant a solo post of its own IF it has both the heated seat and bum dryer – because I’m a sucker for those things!)
I’ve been experimenting with this post style with my hotel reviews and I like how it works, so I’ve created a few more master pages for your reference. In the future, I plan to use this style for anything that has several related posts where a lot of references seem logical to the user experience. As well, it gives me a great place on trip reports to consolidate photos into galleries for reference for those who want to quickly browse a full content set.
Right now this brings me to a grand total of six master pages:
* Reciprocal Elite Upgrades for American Airlines and US Airways
* Golden Princess 2014 California Coastal Cruise
* Seabourn Odyssey 2014 Gems of the Java Sea Cruise & related Indonesia trip
My hope is that this style cuts down on the annoying header/footer links in the main text (which also take me precious writing time to put together and cross-link).
I’m not going to remove the links where they already exist (mainly the American Airlines/US Airways and Golden Princess reports that are already complete). But I’ve already integrated this style with hotel reviews and will continue it with the Seabourn Odyssey trip report as it unfolds over the next couple months.
I’m also all ears about any other content you’d like to see consolidated this way – Uber posts, perhaps? Recipes? Subscription box reviews?
