5,000 Mile Alaska Mileage Plan Bonus Offer is Back
One of the easiest bonus offers ever has returned. Earn 5,000 Alaska Mileage Plan bonus miles just for signing up for a new Alaska Mileage Plan account and flying ONCE!
We wrote about this offer this past spring when Alaska Mileage Plan first rolled out 5,000 bonus miles. This came on the heels of their merger with Virgin America and seemed to be a special one-time deal. Good news, though: if you didn’t get in on it, you didn’t miss the boat (or the plane in this case).
5,000 Alaska Mileage Plan Bonus Mile Offer Details
New Alaska Mileage Plan customers who sign up for an account between May 20 and July 31, 2017 are eligible too. All they need to do is take their first qualifying flight by September 30, 2017. (This is a good reason to NOT follow our normal advice of signing up for loyalty programs just in case!)

A few terms and conditions apply:
Bonus miles offer is valid only for new Mileage Plan members who enroll between May 20, 2017 and July 31, 2017, and complete a qualifying Alaska or Virgin America flight between the enrollment date and September 30, 2017. To qualify, the flight must be eligible to earn Mileage Plan miles and must be credited to the new Mileage Plan account; codeshare flights with other airlines do not qualify. You must add your new Mileage Plan number to your reservation to qualify for bonus miles. An individual may receive the bonus a maximum of one time, even if they hold multiple separate Mileage Plan accounts. Offer is not combinable with other Mileage Plan enrollment or account activation promotions. Mileage Plan conditions of membership apply.
Putting the Alaska Mileage Plan Bonus Miles Offer to Use
The bonus does seem like it might be something that individuals with an existing Alaska Mileage Plan account might be able to take advantage of as well. This is conditional upon never having received a sign up bonus before. It appears by reading the terms and conditions, you’d need to credit a new qualifying flight to a brand new account. You would then later call to combine it into your old account. This is consistent with past history on Alaska Mileage Plan bonuses. The program has traditionally offered generous signup bonuses for new members. Based on this, we would also conclude that if you signed up under the last bonus offer but never took the qualifying flight that it would be best to sign up for an entirely new one here for the purpose of acquiring this bonus.
5,000 Alaska Mileage Plan miles are enough for a one-way award ticket to some destinations. The carrier also has a number of intriguing partnerships, including these airlines:

I’ve quite enjoyed my time up in Alaska during my Seabourn Sojourn inaugural cruise. This might be the time when I finally sign up for an Alaska Mileage Plan account so I can more easily make it back up here to this beautiful state! (They also fly to Cuba… an easier way to get back if we cannot easily cruise to Cuba again!)
One correction to your partner airline list, Jennifer: Delta Air Lines is out; and Finnair is in.
