The Last Weekly Recap (for this year)….
I hope all my readers enjoyed some holiday downtime this week. I had a fabulous time spending Christmas at home with my family, a switch from some of my past years. I always believe that Christmas is wherever you are, but this year it was right where I needed to be.
I took a bit of a break from my normal writing volume this week so my weekly recap is light.
I tackled some projects at home including a new garbage disposal and two Nest thermostats. I am in LOVE with any home automation product and I’ll share more in 2015 about my efforts to integrate my home with my travel. I’ve had some connectivity hiccups in the process though – as I’m upgrading/consolidating some of my providers, a phone line to my house got cut. AT&T was in the middle of upgrading my internet access when this was discovered so I’ve been without connectivity for 48 hours while they work through the issue which will hopefully be fixed today! When that’s done, it should help me with my posting consistency as I’ll finally have TRUE whole house access which means I can write from my comfy perch in the media room without fear of losing my work.
If you still are shopping for gifts (or perhaps treating yourself), I shared some of my personal favorite gifts for travelers (all online and easy for instant gifting).
I’m also doing my plotting for 2015 – now that I have wrapped 2014, I needed to review my year and figure out next year’s strategy.
And of course, no staycation for me would be complete without some purging and/or organizing. I may have already made two trips to The Container Store. I definitely unearthed a ridiculous among of travel amenities. (A Hoarders intervention was imminent!) Those have now been donated and will help make many hygiene kits for our homeless population here in Fort Worth.
Coming up this week, we try to get back on track (if internet access cooperates) with trip and hotel review as well as whatever strikes our fancy, which *might* include a live blog of Uber driving on New Years Eve.
Until then, enjoy the rest of 2014 and happy (early) new years!
XOXO
