Forget the free bottle of water or complimentary points for hotel status. That’s so 2016. Hotel chains are looking for new ways to impress guests. So why NOT an in-room snake?!
That’s the first thing I thought when I read this headline in Travel + Leisure.
It seems a housekeeper at a Marriott Residence Inn in Massachusetts was going about her normal daily duties when she discovered that the previous guest had accidentally left his 5 1/2 foot python. It turns out he was hanging out in a dresser. Can you imagine being the next guest and happening upon that little surprise?
I was curious. How often do people actually lose snakes? A quick Google search didn’t yield a quick or easy statistic. I’m slightly relieved as I hope that means the number is low.
I did, however locate easy advice on how to find a missing snake. Note that “dressers” are the very first place listed. I’m going to conclude that the owner of this python didn’t try very hard to find his missing snake. Or he wanted to leave a special treat for the next guest who checked in.
But, just in case… if you stayed at a Marriott Residence Inn in Massachusetts recently and you are missing your pet python, the owners of the hotel may want to have a word with you. And if you are afraid of reptiles, be careful opening dresser drawers the next time you check into a hotel room – just in case!
